Review Consultancy save your money and develop your food service: the proof

  • Issues:

    • As part of an overall major development of the whole university campus, the Students Union were redeveloping four catering, bar and social areas.
    • Whilst remaining an in-house operation, the Students Union required the “clean eyed” approach of a professional catering consultant to support the in-house team through the service and facility development.

    • Solutions:

    • The Students Union engaged Review Consultancy.
    • Worked with the in-house team to determine the new service offers appropriate to today’s students’ aspirations and the four areas being redeveloped.
    • Worked with the architect and main contractor, to redesign their initial designs (which were now out of date and too expensive) based on the new service offers.
    • With the main contractor, tender and evaluate the equipment purchase, installation and commissioning based on the redesign.
    • Helped the SU management decide the winning tenderer and finalise a fixed price.
    • Oversee the final specification, installation and commissioning.

    • Outcomes:

    • All four areas were delivered and commissioned as per the designs, specifications, on time and on budget.
    • Over £150K was saved on the original design costings.
    • The first area became operational in September 2009 and increased sales by 400% on previous trading.
    • All areas now operational and experiencing significant sales increases on previous trading.

Our start position was a design by a previous consultant that was out dated and over priced; Review Consultancy delivered inspired innovative designs based on modern future proof services and saved us a significant sum of money.
